Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC)

• Payload on: ISRO’s Aditya-L1 mission

• Developed by: Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru

• Purpose: To study the solar corona by blocking the Sun’s bright disk (like an artificial eclipse).

• Focus: Observes visible emission lines to measure coronal temperature, velocity, and magnetic field. \

• Use: Helps understand coronal heating and solar eruptions (CMEs) that affect space weather.
