The Civil Service Full-Time Coaching Programme, or Prelims-cum-Mains (PCM) Course, is meant for graduates and post-graduates who wish to appear for the Civil Services Examination as well as other competitive examinations conducted by the UPSC. Students may join any of the three batches; May, June, or August. The programme includes coaching for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination, Main Examinations, and Personality Test/Interview. More than 500 hours of comprehensive classes will be conducted for General Studies papers. An additional 200 hours of classes will be provided for optional subjects available at the institute. Presently, we offer Malayalam, Sociology and PSIR as optional subjects.
In addition to classroom sessions, every student will get personalised mentorship support by a well experienced Mentor. The mentorship support addresses both academic and other factors affecting performance in the examinations. Furthermore, mentors will conduct common mentorship sessions including group discussions, debates, and other academic activities. Special sessions to address the challenges of beginners and personal mentorship with continuous follow up to help students effectively manage study related stress are unique features of the mentorship at our Institute.
As part of continuous evaluation process, students will attend Prelims Model Tests every week. It aims at strengthening their preparation for exams. From the end of October onwards, students will participate in specialised and comprehensive Prelims programmes such as the Nano Test Series, Intensive Study Plan, Prelims Test Series, and the Quest for Questions Circle, through which they will attempt over 7,000 questions before the Prelims examination in late May. Special programmes such as Cartogram for Geography, Revision Classes for Current Affairs, remedial sessions for CSAT and PYQ Practice Sessions also offer added advantages to students.
With a view to making the preparations for Mains Exam more effective, students will be given an answer-writing workbook and attend a three-stage writing programme designed to enhance their writing skills. It is designed in such a manner to help students crack the Mains in the first attempt itself. All answers will be evaluated by mentors, and personalised feedback will be provided. Programmes such as special Essay sessions, Essay Workbooks, Ethics Journals, and Daily Answer Writing sessions add further value to the Mains preparation.
Students who complete the first year of the programme may continue to use the institute’s facilities in the following year as part of their repeat attempt. Those who clear the Prelims examination and are preparing for subsequent stages may also use the facilities free of cost until their final results are declared.
The course is also designed to support students preparing for the Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) and other examinations conducted by the Kerala PSC. Therefore, students are encouraged to appear for other competitive examinations conducted by various authorities across India.
