Valley of Flowers National Park
The Valley of Flowers National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, covering about 87 sq km. Discovered in 1931 by British mountaineer Frank S. Smythe, it forms a core zone of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve along with Nanda Devi National Park. Situated between the Zanskar and Great Himalayan ranges, the area is renowned for its alpine meadows, rich biodiversity, and scenic Himalayan landscapes. Recently, a forest fire burning for several days has led authorities to seek Indian Air Force assistance.
