Vadhavan Port
Around 20,000 people in Maharashtra’s Palghar district protested the proposed Vadhavan Port project over environmental concerns. Vadhavan Port is a greenfield, all-weather deep-draft major port planned about 140 km north of Mumbai, with a natural depth of 20 metres suitable for large cargo ships. The ₹76,220-crore project is being developed by Vadhavan Port Project Limited (JNPA and Maharashtra Maritime Board) and is targeted for completion by 2034.
