Muna Island

Researchers discovered the world’s oldest known rock art—a painted human hand outline—inside a cave on Muna Island, Indonesia, dating to at least 67,800 years ago. Located in Southeast Sulawesi, Muna Island spans about 1,704 square kilometres and features hilly terrain, teak forests, clean beaches, and a rich natural and cultural heritage.
