Largest Wool Producer in India
Wool is a key fibre used in clothing, furnishings, and industry. India, with the world’s second-largest sheep population, ranks ninth in wool production, producing 33.69 million kg in 2023–24. Rajasthan was the largest producer, followed by Jammu and Kashmir, while states like Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh also contributed significantly. Punjab showed the fastest growth in wool production.
