Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)
Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is a rare autoimmune neurological disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system, leading to muscle weakness, numbness, and in severe cases paralysis. It usually begins in the legs and can progress upward, sometimes affecting breathing muscles. GBS is often triggered by a recent bacterial or viral infection and is medically termed acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial, as the condition can be life-threatening but is largely reversible with proper medical care.
