GREEN Meghalaya Plus (GMP) Scheme

Meghalaya CM Conrad K. Sangma launched the GREEN Meghalaya Plus (GMP) Scheme to boost forest cover and conservation. Based on the Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) model, it offers monetary rewards to individuals and communities protecting natural forests for at least 30 years. Building on the 2022 PES program, the scheme aims to conserve an additional 50,000 hectares. So far, over 3,000 beneficiaries have helped protect more than 54,000 hectares of forest.
