Behdienkhlam Festival

A major harvest and thanksgiving festival of the Pnar (Jaintia) tribe in Jowai, Meghalaya, celebrated in July. The term means "driving away the plague." Men dance with drums and immerse decorated wooden structures (rots) to ward off evil and pray for a good harvest. It ends with the traditional Dat Lawakor football game - symbolizing community unity and prosperity.
