This Endowment is instituted by the family and friends of Sri K. J. Mathew IAS, Kappalumakkel house, Chennadu, Kottayam, Kerala. Sri K. J. Mathew served the Nation in different capacities such as the Collector of Kottayam District, Chairman of the Rubber Board, Chief Secretary of Kerala State, etc. He also served as the Director of the Civil Service Institute Pala during the period 2007 to 2013. The purpose of the Endowment shall be to give a gold medal to the Kerala Topper in the Civil Services Examinations conducted by the UPSC every year. For the award of the gold medal, only Keralite candidates who attended a coaching programme of any of the coaching institutes in Kerala will be considered.
Smt. Molly Mathew, KRWA 78, IAS Colony, Kavalloor Lane, Vattiyoorkavu, Thiruvananthapuram – 695013 and friends and other relatives of Sri K. J. Mathew IAS are the donors of the endowment fund. Smt. Molly Mathew is the wife of Sri K. J. Mathew IAS. She belongs to the Tharayil family at Kavanadu in Kollam district. The Endowment was formally inaugurated by H.E. Mar Joseph Kallarangatt on 11.6.2022 and the first gold medal was given to Sri Dilip K. Kainikkara, Kerala-Topper in 2021 Civil Services Examinations. He was a student of the Institute also. Mr. Jacob Punnoose IPS (Rtd.), a close associate of Sri K. J. Mathew, and Smt. Molly Mathew were also present on the occasion.
