International Solar Alliance (ISA)
International Solar Alliance (ISA) is a collaborative initiative of India and France to promote solar energy solutions in the fight against climate change. It was conceived at COP21 (Paris, 2015).
Headquarters: National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) in Gurugram, India.
All UN member states are eligible to join the Alliance. At present, 100+ countries are signatories, and 90+ countries have ratified and become full members.
The “Towards 1000” strategy of ISA aims to:
• Mobilise USD 1,000 billion in investments in solar energy by 2030
• Enable installation of 1,000 GW of solar energy capacity
• Provide energy access to 1,000 million (1 billion) people
