Dadabhai Naoroji (1825–1917)

Dadabhai Naoroji (1825–1917), known as the Grand Old Man of India, was a pioneering Indian nationalist leader, educator, economist, and political thinker. He played a vital role in laying the foundation of the Indian freedom struggle during British colonial rule.

1. Early Life and Education:

Born on September 4, 1825, in Bombay (now Mumbai) into a Parsi family.

He was one of the first Indians to receive a Western education.

Became a professor of mathematics and natural philosophy at Elphinstone College.

Co-founded the East India Association in 1867 in London to voice Indian concerns.

Played a key role in the foundation of the Indian National Congress in 1885.
