BharatGen
BharatGen is India’s first sovereign, multilingual and multimodal AI-driven Large Language Model (LLM) initiative, aimed at developing generative AI systems for Indian languages.
It is spearheaded by IIT Bombay under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST).
BharatGen Models:
• Param-1: Foundational text model
• Shrutam: Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system
• Sooktam: Text-to-Speech (TTS) model (nine Indian languages)
• Patram: Document-vision model for Indian document formats
Together, these models form a full AI stack (text, speech, vision) supporting governance, industry, education, agriculture, healthcare, and digital inclusion.
