Asirgarh Pass

Akbar, the Mughal emperor, captured Asirgarh Fort in 1601 CE after a long siege, which allowed him control over the Deccan region.

Nickname: Because of its control over the passage to the Deccan, it is often called the “Gateway to the South.”
