Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: A Vision for Modern Indian Agriculture
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is a national agricultural campaign launched in India to revolutionize farming practices and empower farmers. Scheduled from 29th May to 12th June 2025, this 15-day campaign aims to engage 1.5 crore farmers across 700+ districts.
Objectives of the Campaign
The core goal is to educate farmers about modern agricultural technologies, promote awareness of government schemes, and provide practical guidance on using Soil Health Cards for better crop planning and fertiliser application.
Implementation and Coverage
Starting in Puri, Odisha, the campaign spans 20 states, including Jammu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. It is a joint effort by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and state governments. Scientists, progressive farmers, and agricultural officers from 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and 113 ICAR institutes will directly interact with farmers.
Key Topics and Focus Areas
The campaign will highlight climate-resilient crops, water conservation, integrated pest management, and the creation of nutrition gardens. A strong emphasis will be laid on post-harvest management, guiding farmers on low-cost techniques like zero energy cool chambers and efficient packaging to reduce vegetable wastage.
Data Collection and Future Vision
Farmer feedback will be collected and analysed to identify ground-level challenges. This data will shape future agricultural research and policies. The initiative reflects the Lab to Land vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aiming for a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is a transformative step toward making Indian agriculture sustainable, resilient, and profitable, recognizing farmers as the backbone of the nation’s nutrition and economy.
