What is SPREE 2025?
SPREE stands for Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees. It offers a one-time opportunity for unregistered employers and employees, including contractual and temporary workers, to register under ESIC without facing penalties or inspections for the past period.
Key Features
* Digital Registration: Through ESIC portal, Shram Suvidha, and MCA portal.
* No Retrospective Penalty: Employers will not be charged for the pre-registration period.
* Declared Validity: Registration is valid from the date declared by employers.
* No Legal Hurdles: Employers are exempted from inspections and legal demands for past dues.
* One-Time Amnesty: Encourages voluntary compliance without fear.
Significance
SPREE 2025 is a major step to formalise employment in India. It helps integrate unorganised, contractual, and temporary workers into the formal workforce. Workers gain access to ESI health and social benefits, while employers get relief from retrospective penalties and legal fears.
SPREE 2025 reflects ESIC’s commitment to universal social protection. By simplifying registration and removing past liabilities, the scheme promotes a welfare-centric labour ecosystem. Its success will enhance India’s social security landscape, ensuring inclusive and accessible benefits for all workers.
