Sinhagad Fort
1. Hill fort near Pune in the Sahyadri Mountains, about 1,312 m above sea level; earlier called Kondhana.
2. Believed to be ~2000 years old and served as an ancient strategic outpost.
3. Captured by Shivaji Maharaj; famous for the Battle of Sinhagad led by Tanaji Malusare against the Mughals.
4. Later seized by the British East India Company in 1818.
