Prayas Neuro Rehabilitation Centre

The Ministry of Ayush has launched “Prayas”, a first-of-its-kind Integrated Neuro Rehabilitation Centre at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa. Inaugurated on the 10th Ayurveda Day, this centre represents a new model of holistic care by blending Ayurveda, Yoga, and modern rehabilitation therapies, especially for children with neurological and developmental challenges.

What is Prayas?

Prayas is a multi-disciplinary centre designed to provide patient-centric and integrative neuro care. It unifies Ayurveda, Physiotherapy, Yoga, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and modern Paediatrics under one roof. This combination makes it unique and among the first of its kind in India.

Objectives and Functions

The centre’s main focus is on paediatric neuro-rehabilitation, supporting children with developmental and neurological conditions. Its key aims are:

* To offer comprehensive therapies for improving physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

* To combine traditional wisdom with modern rehabilitation sciences.

* To serve as a research and training hub for Ayush-based innovations.

* To provide family-centred support, ensuring holistic recovery.

Significance

Prayas is not just a treatment centre but also a model of hope and healing. Leaders like Shri Prataprao Jadhav and Shri Shripad Yesso Naik have highlighted its role in creating evidence-based solutions and offering new hope for families dealing with complex health challenges.

Conclusion

Prayas marks a milestone in healthcare by integrating Ayurveda and modern sciences. It reflects India’s vision of holistic healing, aligning with the National Health Policy. More than a centre, Prayas is a promise of care, compassion, and better quality of life for children and families.
