Impatiens Nagorum

Impatiens nagorum is a newly discovered species of flowering plant from Northeast India. It belongs to the genus Impatiens, commonly known as balsams or “touch-me-nots,” famous for their brightly coloured flowers and seed pods t  hat burst open when touched.
Found in Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Kiphire district of Nagaland.
The species name “nagorum” honours the Naga tribes of Nagaland.
Grows at an elevation of about 2,336 metres in moist temperate broadleaf forests.
The Eastern Himalayas and Northeast India are among the world’s richest regions for Impatiens diversity, making this discovery important   for conservation and botanical research.
