Global Virus Network (GVN)
The Global Virus Network (GVN) is an international coalition of leading medical virology research centers and scientists. It was established to strengthen research, collaboration, and response to viral threats around the world.

Objectives
1. To foster global collaboration among virologists.
2. To accelerate research on emerging and re-emerging viral diseases.
3. To train and mentor new generations of medical virologists.
4. To support governments and health organizations in formulating effective viral outbreak responses.
Functions
• Facilitates rapid information exchange during outbreaks such as COVID-19, Ebola, and Zika.
• Provides scientific advice to the World Health Organization (WHO), governments, and other health agencies.
• Focuses on capacity building by strengthening laboratory infrastructure and expertise in developing countries.
• Encourages collaborative research in vaccine, diagnostic, and antiviral development.
• Conducts annual meetings and training programs for scientists and medical professionals.
Structure and Membership
• Comprises over 70 centers of excellence and affiliated laboratories across more than 40 countries.
