Eurasian Otter
The Eurasian otter, also called the European or common otter, is a semi-aquatic carnivorous mammal native to Eurasia. Recently, it has been recorded again in the Sindh River in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, marking its reappearance in the region after being considered locally extinct.
Native to Europe, the Middle East, Northern Africa, and large parts of Asia
In India, found in northern, northeastern, and southern regions
Inhabits rivers, lakes, streams, marshes, swamp forests, and coastal areas
In the Indian subcontinent, commonly associated with cold hills and mountain streams
