Border Roads Organisation

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) successfully carried out a high-altitude rescue and road restoration operation at Chatergala Pass under Project Sampark, ensuring connectivity and safety in a strategic Himalayan region.
Chatergala Pass (10,500 ft) connects Bani (Kathua) and Bhaderwah (Doda) in Jammu & Kashmir and lies in the Greater Himalayas with rugged, ecologically rich terrain.
BRO, under the Ministry of Defence, is responsible for building and maintaining strategic roads in border and remote areas to support the Indian Armed Forces.
Established in 1960, BRO operates through GREF and Army Engineers, playing a vital role in national security and regional development.
