Missile Type
• LR-AShM is a Hypersonic Glide Missile.
• It follows a quasi-ballistic trajectory.
• Operates at hypersonic speeds:
o Starts at Mach 10
o Maintains average Mach 5.0
o Uses multiple skips during flight
Technology and Indigenisation
First-of-its-kind missile with:
• Indigenous avionics systems
• High-accuracy sensor packages – to engage moving targets in the terminal phase.
Stealth
• Flies at low altitude with high speed and manoeuvrability.
• Remains undetected during most of its trajectory.
Composition / Propulsion
Configured with a two-stage solid propulsion rocket motor system.
• Stage-1: Gets separated after it is spent.
• After Stage-II burnout:
o The vehicle performs an unpowered glide in the atmosphere.
o Executes required manoeuvres before engaging the target.
