Why in News?
•    The Union Home Ministry has launched the FCRA 2.0 Portal to simplify, digitise and strengthen the regulation of foreign contributions received under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA).
•    The portal aims to reduce paperwork, speed up application processing, improve transparency and enable real-time monitoring of foreign fund inflows received by registered organisations.
FCRA 2.0 Portal: Key Features
•    Digital Governance: The portal completely digitises the registration, renewal and compliance process under FCRA, eliminating physical submission of documents.
•    Technology Integration: It is hosted on the National Government Cloud (MeghRaj) and incorporates Aadhaar-based authentication, e-Sign facility, OCR (Optical Character Recognition)-based document verification, integrated dashboards and process re-engineering.
•    Real-time Monitoring: The platform enables continuous monitoring of foreign contributions, strengthening transparency and helping authorities detect suspicious fund flows.
•    Faster Processing: Digitisation is expected to significantly reduce delays in processing nearly 15,000–20,000 FCRA applications and approximately 17,000 annual returns filed every year.
•    Coverage: Around 14,500 organisations currently hold valid FCRA registration across India.
•     Administrative integration : The portal is integrated with major government databases and banks, including PAN, Aadhaar, OCI, NGO Darpan, and the ICAI’s UDIN system.
Understanding FCRA
•    Purpose: The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 regulates the acceptance and utilisation of foreign contributions and foreign hospitality to ensure that such funds do not adversely affect India's sovereignty, national security or public interest.
•    Who Requires Registration? Any NGO, association or organisation intending to receive foreign donations must obtain FCRA registration or prior permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
•    FCRA 2.0 Portal will reduce paperwork, speed up processing of applications, and ensure effective real-time monitoring of foreign contributions.
