eSushrut@Clinic – Hospital Management System (HMIS)

Brain Booster: eSushrut@Clinic – Hospital Management System (HMIS)
Why in News?
•    The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is set to launch eSushrut@Clinic, a lightweight cloud-based Hospital Management System (HMIS) developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to promote digital transformation in small healthcare facilities.
•    The platform has been developed in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA) and supports the objectives of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) by improving interoperability, efficiency, and digital healthcare delivery.
What is eSushrut@Clinic?
•    eSushrut@Clinic is a cloud-enabled Hospital Management System designed specifically for small outpatient clinics, primary health centres, sub-centres, nursing homes, pharmacies, and laboratories.
•    It provides an affordable and user-friendly digital solution for healthcare facilities that cannot adopt large and expensive hospital management systems.
•    The platform seeks to replace manual record-keeping with a simple digital workflow while improving operational efficiency and patient care.
Need for the Initiative
•    Many small healthcare facilities continue to rely on manual processes because conventional Hospital Management Systems are often too costly and technically complex.
•    Several States and Union Territories have expressed the need for a government-supported, affordable HMIS suitable for primary healthcare institutions.
•    The initiative aims to bridge this digital gap by providing an accessible platform that can be adopted even by facilities with limited technical capacity.
Key Features
•    The platform is a lightweight, cloud-based HMIS that simplifies routine activities such as patient registration, appointment management, billing, and digital record maintenance.
•    It is designed to be simple and intuitive, requiring no specialised technical expertise from healthcare staff.
•    The system can be accessed from any internet-enabled device without requiring complex hardware or software installations.
•    C-DAC will undertake the maintenance, software upgrades, and technical support for the platform.
Implementation Status
•    More than 800 health facilities have already been onboarded onto eSushrut@Clinic.
•    The platform has generated over 680 health records.
•    C-DAC is simultaneously implementing the full eSushrut Hospital Management System across more than 15 AIIMS and several State Government hospitals.
Pricing Model
•    The subscription cost is ₹499 per month for up to five users.
•    A government discount of ₹200 reduces the effective subscription cost to ₹299 per month.
•    The software will be provided free of cost for the first three months.
•    Every additional user beyond the initial five-user limit will be charged ₹50 per month.
Significance
•    The initiative makes digital healthcare affordable and accessible for small healthcare providers.
•    It supports the digitalisation of primary healthcare institutions and private outpatient clinics across the country.
•    By reducing paperwork and administrative errors, it improves operational efficiency and the quality of patient care.
•    The platform advances the objectives of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) by promoting interoperability, standardised digital health records, and integrated healthcare delivery.
•    It represents another step towards building a digitally connected and technology-driven healthcare ecosystem in India.
